🎨🏠 Art in 9-Square-Metres

Sneak a peek into contemporary Chinese artist Zhang Enli’s past, packed into a 9-square-metre space — “Studio” is a replica of the artist’s Shanghai studio from the 1990s created during his month-long residency programme at the Royal Academy in London in 2018, co-presented by @k11artfoundation.

Exploring the relationship between the past and the present, the work is a reminder of the difficulties the artist experienced during his younger years. A university professor of interior design in Shanghai at the time, “Studio” is a reflection on Zhang Enli’s early career where his greatest struggles and confusion opened up the possibilities to his later success.
